Best joystick for war thunder pc10/19/2023 ![]() ![]() MSFS is basically sightseeing simulator when it comes to combat aircraft, you get no armament and the quality of the flight/system models is generally lackluster.ĭCS is there for you if you want the deepest and most realistic simulation, but it has prices to match. I just want to make sure that you won't have all that gear and then regret your purchase because "the VKB NXT with a THQ throttle module for 1/3 the price would have given you the exact same level of control and feel" for example.įor WW2 IL-2 would be the most obvious answer if you're mainly in it for the action and different plane types. I DON'T want to steer you away from the gear you mentioned, it is REALLY high quality product that blows the pants off of Saitek/Thrustmaster's lineup and is definitely worth the money. (Having HOTAS gear with 60 buttons when War Thunder only has 12 inputs would be a bit of a waste in my mind, but YMMV of course) People who buy a direct-drive steering wheel usually don't buy it for Need For Speed, if you understand what I mean. I'm no expert on War Thunder, but I don't know if having such a high-end setup would add a lot to your gameplay experience compared to cheaper gear. My Saitek throttle has 22 inputs and 2 dials on just the throttle handles. My VKB NXT Premium (a mid-range stick) has 26 inputs on the grip ALONE. Another big benefit of high-end HOTAS sets is the borderline insane amount of inputs you get. ![]() These thing can make a huge difference for some sim users. This means that even the smallest movements are detected, you can make extremely precise maneuvers and the internals won't wear out over time. ![]() The expensive HOTAS controls have really, really sensitive sensors and very high-end internal mechanisms. Now, this might be a controversial statement, but please hear me out: Don't spoil your first HOTAS experience by learning that you can only use one device for your game! I'm not that familiar with War Thunder, so I would suggest to first check if it supports simultaneous use of multiple devices before you decide on what to get. This is not always the case! Some games will force you to select only one peripheral to bind functions to. Most of the recommendations are made from a flight simulator viewpoint, where it is expected that the sim/game in question can support multiple devices from different manufacturers. Now, there is one big thing that needs to be addressed first. This is still a WIP so there's quite some stuff missing, but it may give you some background info on what's currently available: Virpil/VKB/Winwing offer signficantly better quality for the price, but they rarely (if ever) show up in "top 5 best HOTAS for your game!" articles because they don't advertise on the casual market and usually aren't for sale on ebay/amazon. I'm sure they're nice people, but anyone who puts the Warthog HOTAS on a #1 spot and says it is "the best money can buy" either has no background in flight simming or gets all of their products from a brick-and-mortar store. Please don't get your HOTAS advice from like PC gamer and other sites that have no idea what they're talking about. I heard some good things about Virpil and VKB, but they look pretty expensive, but I would be willing to pay that much if they are excellent.Īt this point I am very confused, so I would really appreciate some guidance, thanks.Įdit: This looks pretty good, but I am not sure: I did some research and there is a PCGamer article that says the Logitech X56 and the Thrustmaster Warthog are good, however, after doing a bit of research, it looks like these are both hated a lot on this community, the X56 for being plasticky, and the Warthog for having cheap internals. Hi, so I am in the market for a joystick, throttle, and rudder pedals (unless the joystick has yaw built in) for War Thunder, and I don't want to spend more than $800 on the throttle and joystick combined, and I am willing to pay up to $300 for the rudder pedals.
